Alpine Electronics announced it won another CES Innovation Award for its new X209-WRA 9-inch Restyle Dash system for 2011-up Jeep Wranglers.
The X209-WRA is one of Alpine’s first radios to offer both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has a new high-visibility capacitive touch screen with bright images even in direct sunlight. When the roof of the Jeep is down, you still get a clear image plus the screen is splashproof and dustproof so it’s resistant to rain.
It has a built-in HD Radio tuner, Pandora via a smartphone, iPod/iPhone music, Bluetooth audio streaming, AM/FM/CD, FLAC/MP3/WMA/AAC/HE-AAC playback via USB and SiriusXM compatibility (with optional tuner). Video entertainment is available through the DVD player or HDMI input. The navigation system has text-to-speech directions and free lifetime HERE Traffic information service.
The X209-WRA can serve as a control center for other Jeep accessories using the KAC-001 External Accessory Controller (sold separately). Up to eight accessories – such as a winch, light bar, and air suspension– can be controlled from the radio screen with simple icons.
The radio comes with an iDatalink Maestro Module to retain factory features such as the voice-activated media player, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, premium audio amplifier integration, and visual parking assist when used with an optional rear view camera. The X209-WRA can also display tire pressure, battery voltage, door status, engine codes and user customizable gauges.
It is expected to ship in April at $4,000.
