Morel, maker of high end car audio products will unveil at CES next month a new entry level audio series called Maximo Ultra.
The series includes 2-way component systems and coaxial speakers that can be installed in factory speaker locations. It also includes some of Morel’s audiophile technologies.
Two of the component sets will have suggested retail prices of $249. Additional pricing will be announced at CES.
Compared to the earlier Maximo series, the new line offers new cone material and a higher grade motor system. It also has a shallower depth, improved suspension and better crossover components, said Morel.
The Maximo Ultra component system has a 1-inch diameter soft dome tweeter, using Morel’s external voice coil technology (EVC) developed specifically for the new line. It has a high-grade ferrite magnet, and new special treated paper cone and computer modeled suspension for a highly linear movement during low midrange frequency reproduction, thus reducing distortion and increasing bass dynamics.
Morel said it aimed to create speakers that were “more tonally balanced, giving it many sound characteristics of a high quality speaker system.” it said.
Maximo Ultra is offered as 2-way and coaxial speakers available from the 1st quarter of 2017 in following sizes: Coax: 4″, 5″ 6″ & 6×9″ 2-way 5″ & 6″. Suggested retail price is $249 for the 5 and 6-inch component systems.
The Maximo Ultra series will debut January 5-8 at CES at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Suite 29-239.

I thought Morel’s only came up in the spring!
And I’ve never heard a peep out of them just people walking around looking for them under the leaf’s or by old dead trees just after a rain or when the last snowfall melts.
Now it looks like we can pick them up at our favorite car audio shop this spring, but they won’t taste the same.
