Alpine Electronics began shipping an audio system embedded in a portable cooler that can be used for tailgating, boating, fishing or other sporting activities.
The Alpine PWD-CB1 Alpine In-Cooler Entertainment (ICE) includes a 180-watt audio system in a Grizzly Cooler that still allows 56-quart storage capacity.
After spending the past few years producing sound systems for trucks, Alpine “recognized the need for an entertainment system that could be used outside of the vehicle yet matched the lifestyle activities of these [truck] owners, which led us to develop the PWD-CB1 Alpine ICE,” said VP and GM of the aftermarket business unit Steve Crawford.
The cooler includes a 2-way, 5.25-inch component waterproof speaker system with 4×10-inch bass radiators and a compact audio amplifier with Bluetooth audio streaming.
It comes with a 16-foot cable that plugs into the car’s 12- volt jack, and a monitoring system that alerts you if the truck should be started to prevent the battery from running down.
The cooler may also be used with an optional Goal Zero Yeti 400 external battery.
Suggested retail price of the PWD-CB1 Alpine ICE is $1,500.
