Porsche said it is responding to demand for new features such as navigation in its vintage sports cars by releasing a Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System.

The radio launched first in Europe in February and is now being offered in the US and Canada.

It combines classic Porsche styling with a touch screen 3.5 inch display in a single DIN slot.  It includes navigation, Bluetooth, as well as SiriusXM capability and two USB ports and both an internal and external mic.

Users also get classic knob controls.  The radio has been optimized to work with the car’s built-in antenna (usually a single telescoping rod) and it cosmetically matches the Porsche dashboard.

Navigation features include a choice of 2D or 3D mapping, and the radio comes with an 8GB microSD card.

The radio works with sports car generations between the first 911 from the 1960s to the last air-cooled 911 (993 series, MY1998), as well as the 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, and 968 models.

  1. They have had these for twenty years just no US maps, single din navigation is common in Europe.

      1. Porsche finally answered CEoutlook’s questions. The spokesman didn’t really answer where car audio dealers could purchase product although I did ask.

        Hello Amy,

I received your questions from a colleague in Germany. Please find the relevant answers below.

The suggested retail price of the radio kit is $1,250 before installation. Installation will vary by model and must be discussed with the installer. The radio is available from all Porsche dealerships in the US and in Canada.

This is the first official US spec radio that has been offered. Purchases may be made from your local Porsche dealership.
