Alpine Electronics of America is now shipping a CarPlay radio with a 9-inch screen that works specifically with 2011 and up Jeep Wranglers.

The new i109-WRA 9-inch radio, first announced in January, is Alpine’s first CarPlay radio in its made-for-trucks Restyle radio series.

The unit has dedicated CarPlay buttons for phone, music, and maps as part of the special bezel it comes with, replacing the Jeep’s entire radio area.  The bezel creates a factory like fit for the i109-WRA, said Alpine.

As with all CarPlay units, users get access to phone, messaging, music and maps from the radio in an easy to use Apple interface. And you get Siri voice control and “intelligent” features (the radio can predict where the driver wants to go based on his recent emails, text messages, calendar entries and more).

A wiring harness and an iDatalink data module is included for plug and play installation

The i109-WRA also has an AM/FM tuner with RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data system) program display and one aux AV input source. Three (2V) preouts allow for additional amplifiers to be installed.   Suggested retail price is $2,500.
