Kenwood is showing at CES a crash warning system that is built into a Dash Cam DVR (digital video recorder), and plugs into the cigarette lighter.
The new DVR-410 includes 3 types of sensors: crash warning, lane keeping, and the ability to record on impact, even when parked. The device has an LCD screen and offers high resolution video recording.
It issues an audible beep if you are closing in on the car ahead too fast to help avoid a crash. If you cross into the next lane, you also get a beep. The device does not tie into turn signals.
Kenwood offered a device similar to the new DVR-410 in Europe in the past. It is entering the US sector, it said, as it believes driver safety will be a large market here.
The DVR-410 will be available in the spring of 2016 at a price to be announced.
