Rosen Electronics announced a new headrest DVD/monitor system that it claims is the first to maintain an all-digital signal when connected to an HDMI, USB or SD card device.
The new AV8900H is an all-in-one rear seat entertainment system with built-in dual DVD drives and 8-inch high-resolution monitors.
Rosen says its new processor keeps the signal path in digital form without converting it to analog, which can degrade the quality of the picture. The signal stays digital at two stages–including as it is shared between the two headrest monitors and as it is sent to the monitor. Images then appear more detailed, brighter and clearer, it said, even though the monitor is displaying 480p.
Display resolution on the AV8900H is 800 X 480. The system’s USB port can be used with large capacity (up to 1 TB) flash drives with full 1080P support. It permits WiFi streaming (when available) over Google Chromecast, ROKU Stick, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and more.
The AV8900H also uses capacitive touch buttons for fast response times. It includes a 1.5 meter HDMI and USB extension cable for installation flexibility.
It will be on display at the SEMA Show from November 3-6 in Las Vegas, booth #11817. It will ship in the first quarter 2016 at a price to be announced.
Rosen was purchased by AAMP of America in May.
