Pioneer is teaming with members of the Mobile Electronics Specialists of America (MESA)  buying/marketing group to promote driver safety in 50 high schools across the country.

Retailers will demonstrate Pioneer radios with CarPlay and Android Auto at varsity football and basketball games to help prevent texting while driving.

The tour, called the Safe & Sound Tour, will target both parents and teens who may receive discounts on product and/or free basic installation from the local retailer.

Pioneer will also give back to the communities by making a cash contribution to the participating schools. Checks from Pioneer will be presented at varsity home games during the fall football season/winter basketball season.

In an online survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Pioneer Electronics in May, 44 percent of 1,801 vehicle owners admitted they text and drive. And 86 percent had witnessed other drivers texting behind the wheel.

Ted Cardenas, Pioneer VP Marketing for the Car Electronics Division said, “With school in full swing, we wanted to show teens and parents that there are intelligent ways to stay connected while on the road.  Pioneer’s products make it easy for drivers to update their existing vehicles, particularly teens driving older vehicles, with the latest connectivity options and better audio too.”

Among the products on the tour are Pioneer’s AVIC-8100NEX, AVIC-7100NEX and AVH-4100NEX. Retailers will also show Pioneer TS-D component speakers, shallow subwoofer and new 5-channel amplifier.
