Car Toys Launches New Venture

Car Toys Appoints Yen Tran

Car Toys, the 50-store chain based in Seattle, is launching a new kind of expeditor service in Austin and San Antonio, TX.

It will deploy mobile salesmen and installers to car dealerships in vans to sell and install aftermarket products.  The teams will be overseen by a district manager.

While Car Toys has sold to car dealers in the past, this represents a new level of service and a new business model.  The company has been working on this for a year and will launch the program over the next few months, it said.

And while Car Toys operates stores in the Houston, Dallas and Ft. Worth markets, this is the first time it is entering the Austin and San Antonio markets.

One of the products to be included in the program is a JBL car specific audio system for the F150, offered exclusively by Car Toys.  The product will not be sold in Car Toys retail stores.

The new JBL F150 Concert Edition plug and play audio system includes four speakers, a pair of 8-inch dual voice coil subwoofers and a DSP amplifier.  It is tuned to the acoustics of the F150 and  designed to cosmetically match the vehicle.

Car Toys would not reveal its plans beyond Austin and San Antonio for the new program.

  1. Hardly news. Cartoys has had mobile service to dealers off and on for years. As have most car audio shops. Just a press release to get some attention.
