JL Audio is shipping its mini powersports amplifiers first announced in November.
The HX amplifiers use the company’s NexD Class D technology and are housed in small iPX6 water-resistant cases for use in motorcycles, ATV’s and any other applications where moisture can become an issue.
Both models include flexible crossover filters and accept a wide range of input signals, from line-level to high-power speaker level signals.
The 4-channel HX280/4 ($249.99) delivers 50 watts x 4 into 4 ohms, and is fully bridgeable, so it can be used as a 3-channel amplifier, or as a 2-channel amplifier producing 140W x 2 into 4 ohms. Its onboard crossovers offer independent controls of front and rear channel pairs and can be set for high-pass, low-pass or full-range.
The full range mono HX300/1 ($249.99) is rated at 300 watts into 2 ohms. It can be used alone or in stereo pairs. One amp can drive a subwoofer, or a pair can work with a dedicated subwoofer system or full-range satellites. The amp’s onboard signal processing features include a low-pass crossover (defeatable), output polarity switch, and adjustable bass boost EQ and variable infrasonic filter. It can be used with the water-resistant M-RBC-1 Remote Level Controller (sold separately at $49.99) to remotely control bass output from the driver’s seat.
The amplifiers measure 1.77 in x 8.66in x x3.09in / 45mm x 220mm x 78.5mm).
