Sony Corporate Enters Advanced Driver Safety

Sony’s latest move is another sign that the car is becoming the next major area of innovation for consumer electronics companies.

Sony, which remains a key supplier of image sensors, recently invested over $800,000 in a company that makes robot cars in Japan, reports the Financial Times.  Sony and Robot car maker ZMP plan to develop self-driving car technologies by combining Sony’s image sensors with ZMP’s robotics.

The news of Sony’s investment in autonomous car technology follows by days, reports that Apple is developing an electric and possibly an autonomous car.
