AAMP of America will launch a marketing campaign on driver safety starting this quarter and running through Q4.
The aim of the campaign is to educate consumers and installers about the solutions available to help drivers stay connected to their smart devices safely.
It will focus on handsfree calling, music streaming and backup camera solutions from PAC, iSimple and Intraphex brands and will include print and web ads, a new web site, and in-store displays.
AAMP is also working with the Consumer Electronics Association to promote its driver safety products.
According to a National Safety Council report, 1.6 million crashes in the US are due to using a smartphone while driving. Forty four states have banned texting while driving and 13 states have banned using a handheld device entirely while behind the wheel.
But studies have shown that many consumers are unaware of the aftermarket handsfree products available. Also, almost half of drivers don’t use the factory handsfree system, when it’s available, said AAMP.
