Adjusting the radio was found to be the second biggest distraction to UK drivers, following the number one distraction of other people in the car, according to a new study of 18,000 British drivers.
18 percent of drivers said they almost crashed or actually got into an accident because of distraction from someone else in the car. 16 percent said the same about simply adjusting radio controls.
Adjusting a navigation system was cited by 13 percent, talking on the phone 12 percent, texting 5 percent, emailing and checking social media, each 1 percent.
By the way, children were cited as a distraction by 15 percent, drinking behind the wheel, 7 percent and smoking 1 percent.
The study was performed by the UK Automotive Association and Populus.
Of the 88 fatalities on the road in the UK in the past year, 17 were due to cellphone use.
