The voice recognition systems in new cars are so poor that J.D. Power gives them a failing grade.
The company’s recent quality report found that almost a quarter of the problems consumers report about their cars concern infotainment and a third of those were due to voice control problems.
J.D. Power’s Kristin Kolodge, Executive Director of driver interaction called that a failing grade and said car makers should stop trying to add new features and work on making their current technology reliable.
Placing calls, navigating and controlling audio should be improved before moving on to other functions, she said at a presentation.
