Alpine has added another radio to its line of models with 9-inch screens, the largest in the industry.
The new X009-FD1 AV/navigation radio fits select Ford F-150 trucks and follows two earlier 9-inch radios launched in July as part of Alpine’s new focus on trucks and SUVs, a program it calls “Alpine Restyle.”
The X009-FD1 is compatible with select 2009-2014 Ford F-150 models XL, STX, XLT, FX2, FX4 and SVT Raptor (it is not compatible with trucks that have the 4.2-inch screen with the MyFord feature, the 8-inch touch screen with the MyFord Touch feature, or the OEM navigation radio).
Additional version of the 9-inch radio for other Ford F-150 models will be offered next year, said Alpine.
The radio includes a custom designed key panel with back-lit buttons. It can also retain the F-150’s factory features such a SYNC, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls and premium audio amplifier if the radio is used with an iDatalink module and a specific T-harness that works with the F-150.
Other radio features include HD Radio, Pandora control, and HDMI input for video playback on the radio from smartphones. The X009-FD1 is also SiriusXM-ready.
The X009-FD1 has a suggested price of $3,000.
Earlier 9-inch models include the X009-GM for select GM trucks and SUVs,($3,000) and the X009U universal model for $2,700.
