Car audio continues to see a decline in head unit sales, although average selling prices across all traditional segments seem to be holding up, according to the results on the first half of the year from The NPD Group.
In-dash car audio sales slid during the first half of the year by 13 percent to 1.3 million units in US sales to consumers. Dollar sales measured $134.1 million, marking a 9 percent drop from the same period last year, according to The NPD Group.
Car audio speaker sales fell by 4 percent in units to 1.5 million, but dropped only 2 percent in dollar sales to $119.2 million.
Amplifier sales fell by 3 percent to 284,000, compared to the period last year, while dollar sales remained even at $48.6 million.
