VAIS Technology, which has long provided integration kits for Toyota and Lexus vehicles, is now offering a SiriusXM add-on module for many types of cars.

A new GSR module is available to work with Honda, Subaru, Toyota and Lexus vehicles.  VAIS will extend that capability to Ford and Dodge models in August and additional vehicles by October.

“We’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.  Our plan is to cover as many vehicles as possible,” said VAIS’ Eugene Kaspin.  “Our plan is to cover the whole lineup of cars that need satellite radio and have USB ports with this GSR module. ”

The device lets drivers add SiriusXM service without degrading the sound quality of satellite radio, as can happen using other add-on solutions like cassette adapters and FM transmitters.  (An optional SiriusXM SXV200 tuner is also required).

Users can retain all the functions of their factory radio including CD changer and rear seat entertainment.  They can browse SiriusXM channels from the radio touch screen or steering wheel controls, or they can use a tuning knob on the radio for quick browsing.

The GSR has a street price of $249.99 or $309 when bundled with the SiriusXM SXV200 tuner.

Among the Honda and Subaru models with which it is compatible are the 2014 Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey and CR-Z as well as the 2014 Subaru Forrester, Outback, Legacy, Impreza, and Crosstrek.
