TEMPE, AZ–Rockford Fosgate said its C.L.E.A.N. level setting technology for amplifiers has been awarded a U.S. Patent (#8712066).
The technology helps match the car’s radio to the amplifier, to help adjust the gain settings for optimal power output. This is achieved by on-board clipping detectors.
Setting the gain properly is often a “mysterious” process. But the gain must be set properly to get the best amplifier performance. The new CLEAN’s ability to show the radio’s maximum capability allows users “to quickly and easily answer the question ‘Where do I set my gain?’ said Rockford’s David Baker.
The CLEAN is now included in Rockford Punch and Power series amplifiers.
CLEAN (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise) level setting is a Rockford Fosgate-developed technology with on-board input/output clipping indicators, allowing the installer to precisely tune the amplifier to the optimum power for their desired performance before clipping occurs and, thus, eliminating speaker-damaging distortion. Three indicators (blue, blue/red, red) on the amplifier’s top mount control boards monitor the point in which the ideal signal and power are being used. At that point, the “blue/red” indicator tells the installer that optimum performance has been achieved, and so once set it never has to be configured again.
