VOXX Continues Deep Dive Into Drive Safety

VOXX Electronics (Audiovox) has begun shipping new backup cameras while confirming that more driver safety products are “on the way” including “lane departure, blind spot detection and forward crash warning systems,” said VOXX Electronics President Tom Malone.

Additionally, new parking sensors and an event camera system will be released shortly.

The market for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is expected to grow by about 23 percent (CAGR) over the next two years.  Many of these safety systems will be offered not only in lower cost cars but as add-0n aftermarket systems, said the company, citing research.

Here are some of the new VOXX backup camera systems that have begun shipping:

Multi-View Backup (CAM430MV): includes a selectable down, behind, wide, and split corner view as well as a digital 190-degree view behind the vehicle.  It uses digital image correction for a “crisp, clear and straight picture from all angles.”  It has two mounting systems including a license plate mount and surface mounting brackets.  VOXX says it is the only vendor offering a microphone and swappable mirror function. Suggested retail price is $349.99.

Import Style Backup Camera (CAM345): has nine selectable parking lines; high resolution; waterproof housing; 160 degree wide view angle; selectable image – normal/reverse; low profile OEM style mount; and built-in microphone.  Uses an anodized aluminum housing to insure long life. Suggested retail price is $199.99.

Rear Observation Navigation System (NM102):  an upgraded universal rear view mirror has an embedded 4.3 inch LED backlit monitor with touch screen control and navigation. It uses a SURF VI GPS receiver, and an ARM Cortex-A9 processor running at 800Mhz.  It has 8GB of onboard memory for  mapping.  It includes Bluetooth 4.0, reverse camera input, and  iGO Primo Navigation.  Users get maps of the US and Canada.

Optional windshield mounts for the NM102 are available for Buick, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Ram, Scion, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, and VW. It is available for Audiovox /Advent dealers at $499.99 suggested retail price.

The products fall under VOXX’s  Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems brand.
