Amazon Testing It’s Own Deliveries

Forget about future drones, Amazon is working towards same day delivery, testing its own delivery service in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, according to The Wall Street Journal.

You may remember that Amazon was hurt by a glitch in last minute deliveries this past Christmas, so that packages failed to arrive by the holiday.  Amazon’s own delivery service would help it control service, as well as shipping costs, which have risen steadily.  And with its own trucks, the company could offer late night deliveries for same day service, said WSJ.

Walmart, eBay and Google are also testing deliveries.

Amazon shipped over 600 million packages in 2013, estimates analyst Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.
