PAC ControlPro

The first steering wheel control interface that can be programmed by an installer from a smartphone or tablet, instead of a PC, is now shipping from the Pacific Accessory Corp. (PAC).

The steering wheel control (SWC) device lets you retain control over the radio from the steering wheel buttons when you swap out the factory radio for an aftermarket version.

The new PAC ControlPRO SWC can be programmed by an Android or iOS device to work with almost any car with steering wheel controls. Installers may also program the device by a USB thumb drive, DIP switch or PC.

PAC says the device has several advantages over current SWC units on the market, including that it works with almost any automotive steering wheel control system including CANBUS, GM-LAN, Class II, LIN-BUS, i-BUS and Analog.   It also installs behind the radio instead of at the steering column.  When installing the ControlPRO, you also get audible feedback to guide the installation process.

The ControlPRO also allows quick programming of customized button functions (including short press/long press functions).

The device is available at $119.99 suggested retail price,
