Distributor Dow Electronics of Tampa, FL has agreed to buy the ongoing operations of Shifting Sands Stereo Distributing of Dania, FL.

Shifting Sands distributes home and car audio products. These include car audio products from Kenwood, Dual (and Axxera), AudioControl, iDatalink and Metra. Dow already distributes Kenwood and is not necessarily picking up all of Shifting Sands lines, it said.

The acquisition, which includes “certain assets” of Shifting Sands as well as operations, gives Dow an additional distribution location as well as Shifting Sands’ customer list.   The purchase should be finalized on September 20, said Dow.

Dow will continue the business of Shifting Sands with all of its existing customers becoming customers of Dow, it said. “This will provide these customers the additional benefits of Dow, while maintaining the products and expertise they have come to expect from Shifting Sands,” Dow said.

“This acquisition better positions our company as a leading Southeast consumer electronics and custom integration distributor by providing us with stronger technical knowledge and a broader product offering to help better serve our existing and future customer base,” said John Yodzis, Executive VP of Dow.
