Here’s Apple’s CarPlay–the new car interface from Apple you could call MirrorLink for iPhone–put through its paces on a Ferrari. In this Engadget video you can see the radio has an accessible “Apple CarPlay” button on the side that launches the system and gives you an iPhone-like interface on the radio, only simpler with much larger buttons than you would find on a phone.

It’s worth watching on Engadget here.
We were impressed with the easy access to iTunes Radio, podcasts and the local search feature. If you ask Siri to find a hotel, a listing appears on the screen in large letters allowing you tap one and get directions to it. Maps looked good and the demo was super fast.
Phone features are set up just like on an iOS device only with larger buttons and text.
Ferrari’s CarPlay relied on a Lightning connection to an iPhone phone, but Engadget said Volvo will allow a CarPlay connection over Bluetooth.
Wired sort of praised the new system and provided a comparison chart with other systems like Ford SYNC and GM’s MyLink here.
