Industry veteran Wayne Brown is launching a web site and program to tie-in car audio with local drive-in theaters, so people can improve the sound experience from movies while viewing from their cars.

Brown says the aim is to reach a new group of buyers who may not be exposed to car audio.  He hopes to create an alignment with the United Drive-in Theatre Owners Association which lists over 350 theaters around the country, where ads could run during the movies asking theater goers if they would like to improve the audio experience in the car.

The drive-in theaters also offer an opportunity to tie-in with local car audio retailers.

Brown’s web site and program is called Cinema Car Sound at www.cinemacarsound.com.   The site introduces car audio to novices and describes different types of beginner, intermediate and advanced systems.  Advisors will be on hand to answer consumer questions.

Brown is asking retailers and suppliers to sign up on the web site as advisors.  Retailers may also sign up to be listed on the site.

One aim of the program is “to put a different face on who we are,” said Brown, owner of a new company called Social Media Monster, Oak Brook, IL.  “The general public primarily views the car audio retailer and consumer as a group who is only about ‘boom, boom, boom,’” rather than sound quality, he said, and he hopes the web site and program will help attract consumers interested in sound quality.

Brown will invite top retailers names as Retailers of the Year by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) to be listed on the site initially, as a means of helping them win national recognition.
