Retail sales will climb 3.4 percent this holiday season, a slightly higher bump than last year, despite economic uncertainty, said the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Last year, retail sales climbed 3 percent in November and December, excluding automobile, food and beverage-related sales.
We’re still expected to see a “more subdued spending mood from consumers,” said the ICSC but holiday sales remain on track for an increase.
Amazon just announced it will hire 70,000 full-time seasonal workers for the Christmas season, a 40 percent increase from last year.
