Audiovox (VOXX) is now offering a remote-start-from-a-phone system through Ford and Lincoln car dealers under Ford’s Custom Accessories Group.
Audiovox’s Code Systems is supplying as a “Genuine Ford Accessory,” a dealer-installed version of its remote start and keyless entry smartphone app and in-car module that works with select Ford and Lincoln cars.
“Ford is just one of a few automotive manufacturers in the world to offer this kind of smartphone-based technology and the first to offer it as a dealer-installed accessory,” said VOXX CEO, Pat Lavelle.
The remote start system turns an Android or iPhone smartphone into a remote control for remote start with near unlimited range. Users can lock, unlock and start their car from across the parking lot, or across the country. There is also a ‘Find’ feature to flash the lights and honk the horn to help find the car.
The system includes an app and a module that must be installed, which works with Ford’s CAN bus so there’s no wire cutting.
Called a Remote Access system, it is now available at Ford and Lincoln dealers. It is backed by a Ford Custom Accessories warranty, and requires an annual user fee of $49.99 for the unlimited range service.
The system works with the Ford F-150, Super Duty, Edge, Explorer and Lincoln MKX if your vehicle is a 2011 Model Year, or newer. It also works 2013 model year or newer Taurus, Flex, Lincoln MKS or Lincoln MKT vehicles and more vehicles are being added.
