Audiovox is shipping an in-car video overhead module with HDMI and MHL inputs to playback video from a smartphone, tablet or lap top.
The 10.1 inch high definition LED monitor with built-in DVD player was first shown at CES in January.
With HDMI and MHL, “if you can see it on your mobile device, you can send it to the monitor” to keep the kids entertained, said Audiovox Electronics President Tom Malone.
The model VODEXL10.1 has 2 HDMI/MHL inputs. Content may be streamed live to the mobile device or is stored on the device can play back on the monitor.
A game port allows the option to add 54 32bit games. The system also includes audio/video inputs and outputs, USB port with charging capability, M1/M2 control, an integrated IR headphone transmitter, built-in 100 channel FM modulator with FM transmitter function, last position memory and auto on upon disc insertion.
It is available in interchangeable shale, pewter and black trim rings and snap-on covers at a suggested retail price of $529.99.
A step down VODDLX10 has built in USB (without HDMI/MHL) at $449.99.
