Automotive Data Solutions, maker of remote start data modules, has untethered installers from the computer. The company introduced at KnowledgeFest the first kit that lets you program remote start data modules directly from a tablet or smartphone.
Until now, you could only program or “flash” remote start data modules (so they work with individual car models) by using a computer.
The kit is called the iDatalink Weblink. It connects to an OBDII port to charge your tablet or phone during the programming. Then it plugs into the tablet and the iDataLink AL-CA data module.
The result is simplified remote start installations that can be performed anywhere.
The Weblink will work with Apple iOS devices initially.
It ships this fall a price to be announced.
