Rydeen Mobile Electronics, maker of in-vehicle rear detection, navigation and convenience systems and accessories, completed its fifth distributor show of the year, attending the A&W Distributors 9th Annual Expo in Dallas. The company showed its 2013 product line alongside other lines sold by the distributor to hundreds of retail store owners, sales personnel and installation technicians.
Rydeen set a goal this year to expand beyond its engineering and product development roots to focus on providing increased marketing and support resources for its dealers. The primary directives included more direct contact with retailers, a broader social media presence and more easily accessible training and instructional resources.
Rydeen has focused its efforts in three key areas:
Distributor Shows: Over the past two months, Rydeen has reached out to new and prospective dealers at popular local shows, including the Shiflet & Dickson Car Expo in Gastonia, N.C.; the MRI Expo in Sturbridge, Mass.; Magnum’s Spring Training Expo in Phoenix, Ariz.; the Eagle Distributors 12-Volt Expo in Houston, Texas; and A&W Distributors 9th Annual Expo. Rydeen representatives also displayed at the Sacramento Autorama Expo, a consumer car show, in February. Additional show trainings will be announced.
Product Training: Rydeen’s Robert Haynes specializes in store-level instruction on Rydeen’s new products, and has conducted group training sessions with retailers, expeditors and distributors in Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and California. Additionally, he just completed a series of retail training sessions in Florida alongside Rydeen Sales Representative John Schneid.
Social Media: Rydeen recently started a technical forum on its website, rydeenmobile.com, to address specific installation- or application-related questions, as well as to offer in-house tips that make installing technicians more efficient. The company’s Facebook page at facebook.com/rydeenmobile features regular posts that show new product information, upcoming shows and events and links to technical bulletins on the Rydeen website or forum. With the tag #findyourroad, Rydeen’s new Twitter page (twitter.com/RydeenMobile) pulls together all of its online content as well as up-to-the-minute posts on news and happenings. And the company’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/user/rydeenmobileusa) hosts hands-on technical videos that describe product features and installation tips.
“We’ve grown a tremendous amount over the past three years, and it’s great to see that our brand recognition has increased among dealers and distributors,” said Jim Newell, national sales manager. “It’s a logical progression to concurrently increase the number and types of resources that support our growth and enable our dealers to have faster access to product and technical information. In addition, publishing a lot of this information on popular social networking sites helps dealers by expanding the brand with consumers.”
