Alpine Electronics is now shipping the new budget subwoofers developed with the hip hop band Far East Movement.

First shown at CES in January, the BASSLINE speakers are Alpine’s first joint collaboration with a recording artist. Far East Movement worked with Alpine engineers to help develop speakers suited to their music which uses “ fun, high-energy beats with deep bass undertones,” Alpine said.

The subwoofers are offered in two models: theSWA-12S4 12-inch single 4-ohm subwoofer and the SWA-10S4 10-inch single 4-ohm subwoofer. Each handles up 250W RMS/ 750W peak power.
The speakers use a patent pending Progressive Wavelet Ribs (P.W.R.) cone for structural rigidity and light weight (for power efficiency). They also use a polypropylene and mica damped cone assembly to promote bass.
The SWA-12S4 and SWA-10S4 are available at $220 and $200 per pair, respectively (suggested retail index price).
