With the New York Auto Show press days underway, we’re sure to see some interesting technology this week, not the least of which is a 2014 Honda Odyssey, with the first-ever in-car vacuum system in the U.S.

Honda has teamed with Shop-Vac to create an in-car vacuum system that includes a “powerful” vacuum and canister that’s tucked into the cabin of the minivan.  The hose extends so the full car may be vacuumed and the system is fully powered when the car engine is on, so there’s no need for a wall outlet.  In fact, the vacuum can operate for up to 8 minutes when the engine is turned off.

You can see the system in use here:

Honda also added a Cloud-based entertainment system and lane departure warning and forward collision warning to the Odyssey.  The vehicle also gets keyless entry, HD Radio, and the HondaLink system with SMS text messaging function, Aha Mobile and other smartphone links to personalized radio, as well as Facebook and Twitter updates.
