Eleven-store chain American TV & Appliance of Madison, WI confirmed to CEoutlook it has exited the car audio market, along with the computer and camera markets.
American’s Paul Kollberg said, “Yes, as part of our regular review of product offerings, we’ve identified a few categories that are simply very mature or challenged, or that are being significantly impacted by smart phone technology. Thus we are exiting the computer, camera and car audio categories.”
He added, “We’re looking forward to using that floor space to further demonstrate new technologies such as 4K TV, and to display new furniture products and collections.”
American TV operates in four states including Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Iowa. It carried car audio brands including Alpine, Kenwood, Polk Audio, Atrend, Focal and remote starters from Directed. The category still appears on the company’s web site here.
