Fifield Fabrications, Brea, CA, is offering pre-fabricated kits to mount an iPad Mini, iPad, or iPhone in a car dashboard.
Like the Soundman Car Audio kits we wrote about last week, the Fifield kits require finishing by an installer. Unlike Soundman’s magnetic mount kits, the Fifield kits are friction mounted.
They are made of machined ABS plastic that can be modified to fit a dashboard, or also a wall in a home. Owner Jamie Fifield installs an iPhone version of the kit in many car consoles.
As shown in the video below, the kits use a pivoting spring loaded latch so you press down on the iPad to release it from the mount.
Fifield is also working on a generic mounting kit with inserts for numerous tablets and smartphones.
The kits carry retail prices from $44.95 to $59.95.
Jamie Fifield has been in the industry for 22 years and recently owned Advantage Audio in Brea, CA. In October he opened Fifield Fabrications to concentrate on design and fabrication.
