Precision Interface Electronics, manufacturer of OEM-grade cables and interfaces for a quarter of a century, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and in addition to looking back, the company is also looking forward, symbolized by a new look.

Since its inception, the company has been known for its three-letter acronym – PIE. “At the time, we felt that our name, Precision Interface Electronics, described exactly what we did and what we were good at, and the initials, PIE, made it easy for our customers to remember us and refer to us easily,” said Bill Summers, president and founder. The three letters became part of the company’s logo, along with a unique icon that, according to Summers, described the process that made the company famous. “The line in the red box of our logo symbolizes a signal with noise,” he explained, “and the straight line at the end is what that signal looks like after going through our products—noise free.”

For its 25th anniversary, Precision is introducing a new logo, and though the name is the same, the emphasis is on Precision. The icon changes as well, depicting a clean sine wave emerging from obscurity. Summers attributes the change as symbolically recognizing the emergence of interfacing into its own industry segment.

“Obviously our industry has changed. Interfaces were originally only a part of the total picture, but today, just about every aftermarket installation requires some means to either connect a portable device into a factory system, or emulate aftermarket media using factory components,” he said. “As a result, there are more companies that sell interfaces. But just like any other maturing industry, there are high-quality offerings, and there are lower-quality products. We set the standard for quality in all our products, and the loyalty of our customers has proven that to be true.”

Precision’s new logo accompanies new package designs intended to make the product more attractive for display on the showroom floor. The new logo and designs will be featured on newly introduced products first.

“I personally want to say ‘thank you’ to our friends, family and customers who have been with us all these years,” Summers concluded, “as well as welcome new customers to the Precision family. Ultimately, we want our customers and friends to remember Precision, because that’s what drives all of our processes. From having our own engineering and manufacturing facilities to holding production certifications that meet automaker standards, we’ve been able to supply products for our customers that are both innovative and built to last. And that’s going to continue to drive us for the next 25 years.”
