Andy Wehmeyer

Andy Wehmeyer is leaving his post at Harman as Global Product Line Manager, Mobile Aftermarket, early this month.

After 17  years at the company, where he started as a product manager, Andy said, “Most of my time at Harman has been a dream. When I was a kid installing stereos in Texas, I never imagined I’d get to work with people like the crew at Harman. I’ve had access to some of the world’s finest acousticians, inventors and engineers and it’s been great fun and a great education. I’ve traveled all over the world as a company ambassador and I have friends everywhere as a result. It’s been great,” he said.

On a personal note, he added, “Years ago, I nearly died and Harman saved my life. My kids have a dad today because of Mike Giffin, Gina Harman, Dr. Harman and a really good physician. For that, I’ll always be thankful.”

When asked about his next venture, Andy said,  “I’ve been in car audio for more than 25 years. I love the products and the customers. Most of all, I love to see listeners smile and hear them say, ‘Wow!’ when they get a demo that causes them to begin the transformation from music lover to audio enthusiast. I’m not sure what’s next for me. I believe that in this category, helpfulness is the best business model and I look forward to continuing to be helpful when I figure out how I can best contribute. In the meantime, I’m going to the beach.”

Harman did not immediately respond to a request early Friday for information on a replacement for global product manager.
