A Best Buy spokesman confirmed the chain’s new price matching policy includes car audio and electronics.
Under the terms of the program that begins March 3, Best Buy will match the price of nearly all items sold by 19 online retailers including Amazon.com, Apple.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Buy.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, Frys.com, hhgregg.com, HP.com, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Newegg.com, OfficeDepot.com, OfficeMax.com, Sears.com, Staples.com, Target.com, TigerDirect.com, and Walmart.com. And it will match prices between its stores and BestBuy.com.
The program will not apply to third party or “Marketplace” vendors that sell on Amazon or other web sites.
And the program does not apply to mobile phones and plans.
Best Buy said the program will end showrooming.
The chain added in a press statement, “Best Buy is the only retailer to offer a Low Price Guarantee in addition to having a full range of the latest and greatest devices and services, a sales force dedicated to providing impartial and knowledgeable advice and full support for the life of the product.”
