Rockford’s Lightning Audio brand, which sells car speakers and amplifiers, will branch into car radios this spring with 2 lines of car radios.
The lines include 3 single DIN radios and 2 double DIN car AV models.
Rockford said its entry into head units is “a natural extension of the line” and that its products offer protected distribution and attainable margins.
The AV models are designed to work with the iPhone/iPod and two of the single DIN models are designed to work with Android smartphones.
The double DIN multimedia models include the LA-7000 (7-inch touch screen) and LA-6200 (6.2 inch touch screen) with Bluetooth music streaming and hands free calling. They offer steering wheel interfaces and rear view camera inputs. The units also have front panel USB and front, rear and subwoofer outputs. They also have a built in 3-band equalizer, SD card slot, aux in jack and 50 x 4 watt power. Street pricing is $349.95 for each.
The three single DIN units include two CD-less models and a top of the line CD/radio at street prices from $59.95 to $129.95. See the chart below for features.
