JVC will unveil at CES two new MirrorLink car radios, making JVC one of the most aggressive backers of the in-car technology.

Now with three MirrorLink head units expected to ship early this year (one is due to ship shortly and was announced last year), JVC said it is pursuing the technology as it helps car AV leverage the smartphone.
Car “receivers don’t have to be re-engineered or updated as often with MirrorLink… As phones come out with new features, graphics and software, these will translate directly to the head unit screen, rather than having to be redesigned inside the in-dash receiver. It’s as if the cell phone and head unit increase their functionality simultaneously,” said Jacob Hardin, National Product Supervisor.
The pair of new models will work directly with a Samsung Galaxy S3, controlling the phone from the radio and they will match future MirrorLink-ready phones as they become available in the U.S.
Samsung is expected to release an app shortly in the U.S. that will allow its S3 to work with MirrorLink car radios.
Updates for future smartphones can be performed through a USB or SD card update, said Hardin.
The NSX700 may ship in January at $699.95, followed by the NSX600 in March at $649.95. The KW-NSX1 is ready to ship at $599.95 as soon as Samsung releases the app for the S3 that permits MirrorLink capability.
