Dual Electronics is introducing at CES two AV car radios with a tablet-like 6.2 screen that has multi-touch capability for swipe, flick, and drag and drop touch control.
The radios also “mirror” the image on a smartphone (Android or iPhone) when used with a special cable and they display 3D-like graphics, said Dual.
The tablet-like screen is found on the flagship Axxera model AXV3D and flagship Dual DXV3D car DVD receivers.
The Axxera AXV3D is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex TM-A8 single core graphics engine.
It supports 1080p playback and has 3 pairs of 4-Volt preamp outputs. It is also compatible with steering wheel controls and and backup cameras.
It provides direct control for an iPhone/iPod, including Pandora control. The Axxera receiver is SiriusXM ready and Bluetooth ready (with optional receiver).
The Dual version DXV3D has the same features without SiriusXM capability and the 4 volt preamp outputs.
Shipping is planned for Q1 at $349 suggested retail price each.
Also new from Dual are several Axxera car radios with a new 3-inch color TFT QVGA screen that shows album art and song information. The screen has “stunning” 3D-like background graphics, said Dual. It’s found on a CD-less car receiver, model AXM230 ($99)and two CD/radios, models AXD530 and AXD430 at respective suggested retail prices of $139 and $119.
The new 3 inch screen is also available on a Dual-branded XDMA761 CD/radio at $119.
Many of the new Dual/Axxera 2013 head units include Pandora control on an iPhone.
In total the company is showing 21 Axxera and 19 Dual car AV products at CES in Las Vegas this week.
