LAS VEGAS

iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of digital HD Radio Technology for AM and FM audio and data broadcasting, will demonstrate consumer radio products supporting Active Alerts technology at CES 2103.  Active Alerts allows radio stations to broadcast notifications from the Emergency Alert System through the HD Radio digital broadcast system.  The alert notifications will generate pop-up text messages and trigger wake-up / snooze capability on receivers supporting the technology during weather emergencies or other local events.   Products, such as the commercially available JVC KW-NT810HDT, a CES innovation award winner, carry the feature.

“HD Radio Active Alerts offers a more compelling and reliable public service capability to radio broadcasters and the public,” said Jeff Jury, COO of the iBiquity Digital Corporation.  “This breakthrough technology brings radio emergency alerts into the digital age, providing consumers with a more advanced messaging experience during emergencies or disasters.”

iBiquity will present the service and demonstrate the technology during a public briefing at the National Weather Service/FEMA booth in LVCC, South Hall 3, Booth 30478 on Tuesday January 8, 2013 between 12:30pm and 1:00 pm.  Demonstrations of the Active Alerts products will also be conducted at the HD Radio booth in LVCC, Central Hall, Booth #9033.
