The CES show is only a month away and we’re getting a glimpse of what to expect in terms of new technology.

The good news is that 2013 will be a year with some new tech twists in car audio.

Expect to see some head units with HDMI slots that will allow a video connection to an Android smartphone or an iPhone 5.

Expect to see more MirrorLink car radios.  This year, MirrorLink was a non-starter as there are barely any MirrorLink-ready phones on the U.S. market. But that is expected to change next year, and some suppliers are getting ready.  With MirrorLink, of course, the car radio can mirror the screen of the smartphone and control the apps (for apps approved by the Car Connectivity Consortium).

We’re seeing advances in marine audio, an interesting app or two for the car and more car audio decks that read you your texts aloud.

We’d like to reveal more, but we’ll have to patient until CES.  See you there in Las Vegas, January 8 -11!
