Boss Intro’s New Marine Audio Products

Oxnard, July 30, 2012 – Boss Audio (Boss International Group)  says it offers one of the most extensive application-specific  marine audio lines with 18 marine head units, five amplifiers, three subwoofers and a wide assortment of installed and mounted speaker systems.

The MR2180UA is the newest addition to Boss Marine. Now shipping, the AM/FM/CD receiver features illuminated, no-slip buttons, U.S. or European frequencies with 24 presets, RCA outputs for full-range and subwoofer amplifiers, a flip-down face for CD access, and rear USB and AUX inputs in an IPX6-rated, 1.5-DIN housing. Its internal amplifier will drive four speakers directly at 80 watts max per channel.

As an option, users can purchase the MRC21 remote control. Instead of typical infrared communication, which requires the radio and remote control to be in sight of each other, the MRC21 uses RF frequency communication to allow users to control the head unit from a different area or room of the boat.

Also new for 2012 are two small-footprint power amplifiers with bridgeable power plants to provide flexibility for any system configuration. The MR404 (400 watts max; 200 watts RMS) is a 4-channel amplifier that can also run in 2-channel mode, while the MR202 (200 watts max; 100 watts RMS) functions as a 2-channel amplifier or a 1-channel monoblock. Both amplifiers feature line-level and speaker-level inputs and variable gain control, and are marinized to prevent rust and corrosion with specially treated circuit boards, a rubber control panel cover, weatherproof connectors and sealing grommets.

Since speakers are typically visible and must integrate with the aesthetics of the boat, Boss Marine created three different colors for its MR65G3 to match most applications. Each set comes with three grilles—white, chrome or black—to enable the speakers to provide sonic enhancement rather than visual deterrent. The MR65G3 coaxials include 1-inch Mylar dome tweeters over polypropylene carbon cones surrounding a 1-inch voice coil. Each speaker handles 250 watts peak power at four ohms.

“We designed the Boss Marine line to be attractive, both from an aesthetics viewpoint and a price point,” said Doug Kern, executive director of sales and marketing. “Even new boat owners can outfit their boats with quality sound for under $500 MSRP, and feel good about the quality of the Boss Marine products they have professionally installed.”
