Rydeen is now shipping the first aftermarket mirror with an option for live operator assistance, effectively competing with OnStar’s FMV retail mirror.
Rydeen’s MN312S also acts as a standalone navigation mirror with a built-in 3.5 inch display for maps and voice driven turn by turn directions with street names. For added safety, users can buy an optional live operator package with Guidepoint Systems that provides 24/7 roadside assistance for $49 the first year (with coupon) and $99/year thereafter.
For operator service, users press a button on the mirror. Additionally, users may buy a separate Guidepoint blackbox that adds car location and tracking, geofencing and speed notifications.
“Ours gives the customer flexibility. They get built-in navigation and for a nominal price, they can add concierge with an operator,” said Jim Newell, National Sales Manager.
The MN312S carries a suggested retail price of $449. It is Rydeen’s top of the line navigation mirror and offers improvements over earlier models (in addition to Guidepoint service) including upgraded Bluetooth audio. It has a direct audio input instead of FM modulation to play audio through the car’s speakers. And it has an outside temperature display.
All units are quality control tested, said Rydeen.
