Three-store car audio chain Alarms, Etc. is running its first promotion on LivingSocial—an alternative to Groupon.
The Florida retailer, who by summer’s end, will have also run about 9 promotions on Groupon this year, says the social coupon sites are not only about getting customers in the door. Each promotion generates thousands of ad impressions that translate into improved web traffic year round.
“Even if we only sell 10 or 20 deals, we still got our name out in front of thousands and thousands of people. Plus we get 10 to 20 new customers,” said store sales manager Joe Cassity.
Alarms, Etc.’s LivingSocial promotion started Thursday and ends Monday, June 25. It includes window tinting packages for the front 2 doors at $39, instead of the typical $80.
Most daily deal sites spit the proceeds 50/50, said the store.
“We are trying to fill the void of the normal summer time slow down and at the same time get new faces in the door,” said Alarms Etc.’s Kenney Browning. “…we connected with over 300 new customers on one single deal in the past with Groupon. And as far as the low margins go, if I fail to sell the customer additional goods by offering reasonable upgrades that’s on me. It’s up to me to make this a profitable experience for the company as well as a pleasant experience for the customers so they come back for more.”
The store is happy to discuss its results on LivingSocial with other retailers.
