Alpine Launches New Navigation Platform

After some delay Alpine is now shipping its first radio/navigation deck, the INE-S920HD, using a new platform.

Alpine INE-S920HDThe deck’s navigation platform offers 3D views of surroundings in key metro areas.  There is also a “proximity zoom” feature that automatically zooms into a larger view of the map as you approach your next turn.  Then it automatically reverts back to the typical map view after the turn.

This new navigation system will also be available on Alpine’s first 8-inch head unit that ships in July: model INE-Z928HD.

As for the newly available INE-S920HD, it has a 6.1-inch screen and it works with Android and BlackBerry phones to control Pandora, as well as iPhones.  It provides built in Bluetooth and HD Radio.

It has a “My Favorites” screen that permits users to drag and drop up to 8 shortcut keys for their most-used features as shown in the picture above.  The settings are stored as a personal profile linked to the user’s phone via Bluetooth.

The AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) deck is also SiriusXM compatible using a new tuner and it offers general iPod and iPhone control.  Street price is $999.95.
