Tampa Bay, FL (May 10, 2012) – This summer, Phoenix Gold will launch an international car audio builder’s competition called “The Phoenix Gold Builder’s Challenge.” Billed American Idol meets Pimp My Ride, the contest will pit Phoenix Gold dealers and distributors across the globe against each other in an online popularity contest where technical skill, artistic creativity and engineering ingenuity will be the key to victory. The only rule: each build must prominently feature Phoenix Gold amps, subs and speakers.
Teams interested in participating will be able to fill out an entry form when the official Phoenix Gold Builder’s Challenge website goes live at the end of May. Once a team has been approved for entry, they may set-up a team profile page on the Builder’s Challenge website and begin submitting details about their vehicle, team members, build list, concept sketches, progress photos, videos and more. Competitors will be encouraged to link their profile page to their Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media accounts to build-up a fan base and highlight the talents of their team.
Teams will not only be competing for international bragging rights: Phoenix Gold will announce a prize package when the official site goes live and select vehicles and teams may find themselves featured in advertisements, press releases or other marketing materials from Phoenix Gold during the Summer.
According to Jay Dawson, Marketing and Events Manager for Phoenix Gold, “The ultimate goal of the Phoenix Gold Builder’s Challenge is to showcase the innovation, self-expression and originality of Phoenix Gold fans around the world. And, by making this an online contest judged 100% by the public, we hope to spark a renewed interest in car audio and really shine a limelight on the science and art of custom car building.”
Judging will begin around the first week of October and – in true American Idol style – will depend heavily on votes from fans and followers of the Challenge. Finalists for each region will be announced by Phoenix Gold at a press conference during the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Winners of the Phoenix Gold Builder’s Challenge will be announced at the 2013 Spring Break Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
