Long Beach, CA  (April 1, 2012)  Kenwood USA Corporation introduces DRīV-3D for the car. This breakthrough in non-traditional navigation technology marries the best in 3D visual graphics with state-of-the-art in car navigation.

Kenwood 3D Radio April Fool'sAt a $2,000 suggested retail price, the DNY10003D will be a product in a category of its own thanks to the use of Triple Ultraviolet Reflex Diode technology. This technology takes standard mapping and creates a triple prismed screen that brings 3 dimensional treatment to the graphics when viewed through special DRīV-3D glasses.

Kenwood’s Product Manager, explained: “Signs, buildings and even roads seem so 3 dimensional it feels like you could touch them. The receiver includes one set of DRīV-3D glasses; the glasses are tinted at 33% and can double as sunglasses while driving, which makes everything the driver sees through the windshield three dimensional.”  The DRīV-3D glasses incorporate the tint level of many vehicle side windows so users can wear them at night.

Dave Hoag, Kenwood VP of sales, said “This technology is so exciting!   We are very proud to be the first to bring it market. Many companies develop products and technologies that don’t fit a specific need, caught up by the excitement a new technology provides. I feel we exude the embodiment of that kind of forward thinking and with this product Kenwood saw a huge hole in the market and we plan to fill it.”

The DNY10003D will be shipping in July 2012.
