Escort, known for its radar detectors, is branching out into new product areas at CES, including a remote start module, a Mobile Digital TV receiver and also a small rugged tablet PC.
Escort’s new QuickStart remote start/GPS module can pop the trunk and lock and unlock doors as well as remote start the car from an Android phone or iPhone. It also allows geofencing and vehicle tracking. The $799 package includes a remote starter and remote module. Monthly fees will apply to services such as tracking but not for basic remote start. The QuickStart just began shipping.
Escort’s “MobileTV” is a small dongle that can deliver live, digital TV (even when in motion) to a smartphone, or iPad or other video-capable device with WiFi. Users can receive live TV shows and news, sports and weickather while in the car or while on the go (in the 46 markets where Mobile DTV has rolled out thus far). When receiving the TV signal over WiFi, the use of MobileTV won’t tax your phone’s data plan. No release date has been set.
The new “SmartOffice” tablet runs Windows 7 and is aimed for small business use. Built in software includes navigation, fleet management, point of sale credit card processing and remote inventory management.
The company is also showing its Escort Live traffic ticket protection network first shown late last year. http://ceoutlook.com/2011/10/24/escort-intros-smartcord-for-anti-ticket-network/
