Radio Shack will sell Livio Radio’s Internet Car Kit this holiday, joining  Hammacher Schlemmer, which began selling the Kit in October.

The Livio Radio Kit will be available in 4,400 Radio Shack locations. It allows users to upgrade their car radios with a simple plug and play device.

Livio KitThe kit provides Internet radio access without monthly fees when connected to an iPhone or iPod touch. It also provides Bluetooth hands-free calling and USB charging.

“The Kit is changing the way people use their Apple iPhone or iPod Touch devices in their cars,” Livio Radio founder and CEO Jake Sigal said.

RadioShack will offer the Kit in a new section featuring other app-powered devices.

The Livio Kit sits on a stalk that plugs into the car’s cigarette lighter. There’s a USB port for phone charging and a mic for hands free calling. When a call comes in, you press a button on the Kit to accept the call. It was first shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Hammacher Schlemmer is selling the device as the  “45,000 Station Car Radio” at $99. The Kit also went on sale in September at stores including Amazon, Crutchfield, Tiger Direct, J&R and Meijer.com.

Livio is also working on a version of the Kit for Android smartphones, it said.
