BlackBerry maker Research In Motion unveiled 5 new BlackBerry Torch smartphones Wednesday including a touch-only device–it’s first model without the famous RIM keyboard since the ill-fated Storm.

New BlackBerry Torch, BoldThe phones claim improved screen displays and sport the most powerful processors yet on a BlackBerry phone, at 1.2GHz.

The new phones, however, are widely seen as interim products until the company releases new “superphone” models based on the QNX operating system next year.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 phones are RIM’s thinnest to date at less than 1/2 inches thick and include 5MP cameras.

The 3 new BlackBerry Torch models feature larger touch screens than the Bold phones. The Torch 9810 is 4G capable.

They will be available through AT&T and Sprint this month.
